Jordan Chamberlain continued his 2007 fightback at Warden Law near Sunderland at the weekend with a fourth and a second place in the MSA British Junior Kart Championship.
After qualifying down in tenth, Jordan had a mission in the heats to give himelf a final grid position good enough to fight for podium positions and wins in the two finals. After fighting his way through he was rewarded with third place on the starting grid for the first final.
Despite making a good start, the Newport teenager found himself right back down in 14th in the first final after contact from another frontrunner but sheer speed (he was just 0.01s off the fastest lap) and skill enabled Jordan to gain ten back places over 18 laps to finish fourth.
Starting fourth for the next race, Jordan was again able to move up the order and this time avoided the first lap chaos to challenge Race 1 winner Max Goff. He moved up to second, then led for six laps but Goff was just too fast and Jordan had to settle for second.
The championship standings have yet to be released while extra eligibility checks are carried out, but it looks likely that Jordan has moved up from his pre-race ninth place in the championship. With only one more event to go in the championship, Jordan is out of the running for the title after early season mishaps but could equal or better last year’s fourth place.
