Kartlink covers international kart racing and is the only British website to regularly be in the paddock at most of the World and European meetings.
The UK had it’s first KF races this weekend with the first round of the Winter Series at PF. Winners were Mark Litchfield (Tony/Vortex) in KF1, Robert Foster-Jones (Alonso/Vortex) in KF2 and Mackenzie Taylor (Alonso/Vortex TM) in KF3.
The popularity of the new classes was mixed, with KF3 attracting 39 entries, necessitating a B-Final, but KF1 only had 15 competitors. It has been pointed out though that last year FA and ICA were combined and as there were 26 KF2 entries there is a marked increase.
Lots of drivers have been attracted over from Rotax Max and TKM, several running on only one engine. For me the introduction into Britain is the real litmus test of whether KF engines are good for karting as I know more about the drivers and I can tell if top-class karting is attracting people who it might not have done in past years. On that basis I’m cautiously optimistic.
Vortex engines won all the two finals, but there were also a lot of TMs racing, including KF3 winner Mackenzie Taylor, and Franco was over for the occasion.
