Jordan Chamberlain’s weekend at Alcaniz didn’t start well when he qualified 38th following an engine problem. GFR, the engine specialists, fixed it in time for the first heat and when he was at full power Jordan had no trouble making up at least ten places in his (nine lap!) heats.
The second heat went less well than the others – as the circuit is very new there was a lot of dust around and after some was sucked into the engine it started to misfire. He kept it going to finish 20th, but two sixths and a fourth easily put him into the finals, starting 15th.
The start of the first final was rough and Jordan was left with no front brakes and a bent rear axle. He was unable to overtake by out-braking despite being as fast or faster than those ahead of him. After 15 laps he had remained in 15th and would need to finish in a similar position to qualify for the European Championship final.
Again the start was rough and Jordan was pushed to the back of the field. Coming from 34th he used the fast, sweeping circuit to come through to 18th, making up 17 places in 15 laps. On aggregate he was yet again 15th in the standings which was well within the top 24 who go through to the European KF2 Finals at Braga, Portugal at the start of August.
