After double heat wins for Alexander Albon, and one apiece for Carl Stirling and Jake Dennis, Albon went on to claim victories in both finals, propelling him to the top of the points standings. Stiff competition from Stirling in the first final made Albon work hard when he had to recover the lead after a daring last lap dive by his rival.
Mackenzie Taylor was well placed to pick up any pieces, whilst Ashley Sutton stormed up from a mid grid start for fourth.
The first attempt at the second final was aborted with a red flag after most of the field crashed out at the first hairpin, only five karts continuing to race, and the final was ultimately re-run at the end of the day.
Albon, Stirling and Sutton traded the lead for much of the restarted race, until with four laps to run, Sutton’s lead challenge took him out and badly impeded Stirling, dropping the latter to ninth. That left Mick Barrett Racing team driver Albon with a clear run to the chequered flag, with Sennan Fielding and Macaulay Walsh gratefully accepting the resultant podium places.
