The Energy Corse official team continues to collect excellent results and victories. After winning at Angerville on the European Championship debut, Tony Lavanant repeated his success during the second round at Mariembourg. His team mate Mathias Gallepe has also shown his remarkable qualities over the last few weeks. Winner of French Cup 125 Long Circuit, he conquered his first European podium in Belgium. The two Energy pilots now occupy the 2nd and 3rd place in the Championship provisional ranking.
On 29th June, Frenchman Tony Lavanant dominated KZ2. Although he did not reach the pole position, which was conquered by another Energy pilot (Kevin Jansen), Lavanant took the lead during the qualifying heats, by winning four heats out of five. Then Tony dominated the two final races. He crossed the finishing line the first time with a 4-second advantage and a second time with almost 3 seconds!
“My equipment was perfect throughout the weekend”, the Energy pilot remarked. “The chassis was really effective, the engine was extremely performing and I could easily control the two races. Now we must focus on the title, because I lost some points after I was penalised by 10 seconds in Race 2. I did not have an early start, but I only moved slightly before the lights went off so commissioners thought I had made a mistake. Therefore I was penalised from 1st to 9 th place”. Lavanant had to content himself with just one victory in Belgium, but after conquering two best laps in the two finals, Lavanant and the Energy Team clearly showed their superiority.
Lavanant’s team mate Mathias Gallepe was never very far from his compatriot in the leading pack. The French driver never left top 3 in all his heats and managed to keep a very high pace in the two finals. One of the few pilots to cross the 57 second threshold in Race 1, he was rewarded for his efforts by reaching 3rd place. “I was looking forward to reaching this podium in the European Championship and now I am really happy” Mathias rejoiced. “The chassis helped me a lot, it was really fast and reliable, regardless of the tyre wear level”. 4 th in Race 2, the Energy pilot showed a superb performance in the Championship by ranking third.
