European Superkarts oversubscribed

For the CIK-FIA European Superkart Championship, competition has started well before the time of the first event: the numerous candidates had to go over the hurdle of entry application in order to get their precious ticket into the entry list of the Nogaro/F race scheduled for 4-6 April 2008.

For safety reasons, the sporting regulations of the European Championship only allow the participation of 60 Superkarts as a maximum in the events. This limit has easily been reached, to such an extent that there is a list of reserve drivers ready to compete should there be any withdrawals among the 60 happy competitors whose candidature has been accepted. Had the number of entries not been limited, there would have been 75 to 80 participants.

Entry applications for the events of 16-18 May at the Lausitzring/D (within the framework of the DTM) and of 1-3 August at Assen/NL (Rizla Racing Day) are also well underway, so much so that the organisers of these two meetings and the tens of thousands of expected spectators are almost assured of having a full field of 60 Superkarts!

For the first confrontation, to be staged at the Paul Armagnac circuit of Nogaro, 10 nationalities will be represented. The British delegation (with 23 entries) will be the largest, way ahead of the Germans (11), French
(10), Dutch (5), Swedish (4), Czech (2), Spanish (2), Austrian (1), Danish (1) and Swiss (1) drivers.

As regards the equipment, variety will also be on the agenda. The palette of chassis (9) and engine (7) makes has even never been as large, which is an additional proof that the category of 250cc karts with full bodywork
and the CIK-FIA European Championship are in full swing!

The entry list for the Nogaro/F event (4-6 April 2008) is on the CIK website.
