Jason Dredge had a fantastic start to his 2008 campaign by winning the opening two rounds of this year’s MSA Long Circuit Kart Championship.
In Round 1 he was briefly challenged by Gav Bennett on the opening lap, but was soon out on his own. He kept on building his lead as the race ran its course eventually taking the win by a comfortable margin. Jason said “it was an enjoyable race, a nice way to start the season.” Behind, Dean Hawley held 2nd early on but was soon joined by Bennett, Matthew Bett and James O’Reilly. These four had an amazing dice as they traded places throughout, but with just a quarter lap to go Bennett’s engine cried enough and seized whilst O’Reilly’s chain broke in the same place and they could only watch as Bett and Hawley went past to take 2nd & 3rd. Kevin Waring took 4th with Stu Parker 5th.
Dredge was immediately out front again in Round 2 and was in a class of his own. Conditions turned greasy as light rain began to fall but that failed to slow Dredge’s pace. Extending his lead each lap the rest were left trailing as he pulled clear his advantage close to four seconds at the flag. “That was a brilliant result; better than I could have hoped for and I am really looking forward to Oulton next month,” he said.
Behind him, Matthew Bett & Don Kennedy scrapped for second place. Dean Hawley was in the action as was Stuart Parker but they began to drop away and as the race passed the half way mark, Parker moved ahead of Hawley in the closing laps to take his best ever finish.
