IAME announces the Super X30
In the aftermath of a particularly successful International Final at Le Mans, IAME has announced a sensational innovation for 2016.
Using its high level competition experience as well as the growing success of the X30 through the world, the Italian company has developed the ultimate non-gearbox kart engine. The expected performance should far exceed anything seen already in direct drive two-stroke karts and there is talk of a gain in the order of a second per lap compared to a current KF.
A formal presentation was made in Lyon during the inauguration of the new Action Karting buildings. The new 175cc engine provides a power gain with a maximum of 16,000 rev / min, without using a power valve, and retains all the advantages of X30 in terms of ease of use. Aimed at thrill seeking drivers, the Super X30 should be part of a specific competition for a selection of experienced drivers as part of a European racing program in 2016.
On 28th October IAME issued a clarification that they don’t intend this engine to supplant the existing very popular X30:
After receiving a lot of enquiries about the X30 Super engine, we are pleased to clarify that the introduction of such engine will take place in 2016. It will be launched as an international class, by invitation only, for professional drivers/chassis brands in the X30 Challenge Europa, the IAME International Final and the X30 Euro series. It will also debut in a few select other markets, capable of developing a professional stock engine class.
The X30 Super (175cc – water cooled – TaG) won’t replace in any way the existing X30 nor the existing X30 classes.
We will disclose more information over the next few weeks.
