Fortec to enter FKS
Fortec Motorsport, one of the UK’s leading single seater race teams, have announced the expansion of their hugely successful motorsports operation by entering the 2016 Formula Kart Stars Championship with a four kart operation split between FKS Junior and Super FKS classes.
Fortec have a formidable racing pedigree having taken multiple championship titles in five different Formula including MSA Formula, Formula Renault NEC, Formula Renault Eurocup, FIA F3 and World Series by Renault. They were successful last year across all classes with FKS ‘old boys’ Oliver Rowland and Ben Barnicoat leading the assault. The team also have strong connections with the Racing Steps Foundation with the afore mentioned drivers and new recruit Alex Quinn all joining the team with the programme.
By expanding its operations into Karting, Fortec is in an enviable position of being able to offer drivers a route from Karting right up to the very highest echelons of motorsport, having launched the careers of F1 drivers Daniel Ricciardo, Heikki Kovalainen, Marcus Ericsson, and Juan Pablo Montoya.
Commenting on the announcement, Fortec Managing director Jamie Dye said:
“The level of professionalism offered by the FKS Championship is a perfect fit with Fortec Motorsport and the single seater Championships we compete in. The format, equipment and level of media coverage offered is very impressive. We are still in negotiations with drivers for this season, and are looking forward to challenging for wins throughout 2016.”
FKS Managing Director Sebastian King also commented:
“Fortec Motorsport are without doubt one of the most successful single seater teams with a World Wide pedigree. We are very excited to welcome them to the Championship and with it the opportunities they present to all our drivers through their various single seater operations and Driver Development programmes.”
