Nielsen continues complete domination of the Winter Cup
Nicklas Nielsen didn’t let his guard slip at all in the final phase of the Winter Cup, winning both the Prefinal and the Final by some distance from Travisanutto.
The good weather continued at Lonato for the start of the OK Prefinal, with temperatures rising. Logan Sargeant (FA Kart / Vortex) was unable to start, after stopping on the formation lap. Nicklas Nielsen (Tony Kart / Vortex) dominated the race, winning with a 2.3s lead while Lorenzo Travisanutto (Tony Kart / Vortex) took over 2nd place from Ben Hanley (Croc Promotions / TM), after a good start. Martijn Van Leeuwen (Birel ART / Parilla) was 3rd for a while before retiring. After a great start, Jean-Baptiste Simmenauer (Tony Kart / Vortex) in 4th resisted the return of Noah Millel (Kosmic / Vortex) in 5th and Karol Basz (Kosmic / Vortex) 6th.
Nielsen didn’t really had a rival of his stature in the Final. Hanley proved incisive early in the race, but Travisanutto quickly took over 2nd place and Basz moved up to 3rd position. Starting from the back of the grid, Sargeant retired on the second lap, apparently with mechanical failure, and Simmenauer, although on the pace of the top five, and Clement Novalak (Tony Kart / Vortex) disappeared simultaneously. Nielsen crossed the line as the winner 1.6s ahead of Travisanutto, Basz finished 3rd at 1.9s off the Italian. Hanley secured 4th place ahead Millel.
