Nielsen overcomes the odds to win OK again
With no heats in the WSK Super Master Series at Castelletto due to the wintry weather, Nicklas Nielsen had a harder time than he had at the previous event of the Winter Cup, but he still managed to come through to win.
The star spangled banner still flies high in OK thanks to the American Logan Sargeant (FA Kart/Vortex), the reigning KFJ World Champion. He was the winner of the WSK Champions Cup and grabbed pole thanks to his lap of 46.931s, the only driver to go under 47 seconds. The following three drivers were all within 0.08s: the Spaniard Pedro Hiltbrand (CRG/Parilla), 2nd, then the Dane Nicklas Nielsen (Tony Kart/Vortex) and the Briton Tom Joyner (Zanardi/Parilla).
He had to close the gap after a start from the fourth row, but eventually Nielsen dominated the Final of the OK category. The Dane had to cope with excellent drivers such as Hiltbrand and the Swede Christian Lundgaard (Energy/TM), who seemed to be the two frontrunners in the first part of the race, together with Joyner. Joyner eventually lost ground while Hiltbrand and Lundgaard finished 2nd and 3rd.
