Honda Cadet head gasket regulation update
On 8 April 2016 the ABKC issued an MSA approved bulletin having immediate effect regarding the thickness of the Honda GX160 engines.
You can view the official version here, and the main body is below:
“15 Head Gasket
Must be standard and unmodified and will at all times have a minimum thickness at all points of 0.88mm when used on K, E and T1 engines. Alternatively, these engines can use 4 off gasket part number 12251-ZLO–003 which, when measured together at all points, must have a minimum thickness of 0.88mm. The T2 engine will use one off part number 12251-ZLO–003 which, when measured at all points must have a minimum dimension of 0.22mm.”
This clarification is issued because it has been found that recently supplied gaskets from Honda are compressing more in use than previously. This amendment will be incorporated into a new version of the Honda GX160 Technical Regulations to be issued as soon as
Competitors should also note that only the ignition coil as described in the Technical Regulations V11 is permitted as used with the current ignition timing tool. A later type 2016 coil may be introduced in conjunction with a revised timing tool later in the year, and detailed in a new version of the Technical Regulations. Any further revisions or updates will be incorporated into a later version of the Honda GX160 Technical Regulations.
