Euro entries up in OKJ and down in OK
The entry lists for the first round of the European Championships for OK and OK-Junior have been released, and show a sharp increase over last year in OK-Junior and an equally sharp decrease in OK. The event will be at Zuera in Spain on 15th May.
The senior class has 38 entries, down from 61 in KF last year. I don’t think this should be seen as a failure for OK, as it will take a while to attract back the drivers who have switched to X30 etc, and for Juniors to (hopefully) decide to move up a class rather than go straight to F4. The success of national racing will also have an effect, as if drivers try it on home soil this year and enjoy it then they are more likely to go to Europe the following year.
OK-Junior has 81 entries, up from 64 for KF-Junior last year, a good indication for the new class.
KZ is also racing at Zuera, just three weeks after their first round at Essay. There are 25 entered, a few less than Essay as the French wildcards aren’t there. Jonathan Thonon is also entered but he’s unlikely to race as he has been unceremoniously sacked by Praga via Facebook! For coaching for a rival team and being slow apparently…
