Glenister and Stamp dominate S4 races at Kimbolton
The ABkC Super 4 series continued at Kimbolton in a combined meeting with the LGM series, where James Glenister won KZUK from a massively improved Matthew Sherwen and Lee Stamp came from the back to win 250 National.
James Glenister, Josh Smith and Henry Easthope shared the heat wins with Glenister taking pole as he had a 2nd as well.
Matthew Sherwen was 2nd on the grid by virtue of his three consistent finishes and took the lead on the first lap. Smith was briefly 2nd before Glenister took it back. Sherwen led half the race but with Glenister closing all the time. He passed on lap 8 and immediately got a gap but Sherwen easily stayed ahead of Ben Blick in 3rd. Otherwise the next bit of excitement was Dan Kelly catching Easthope and passing briefly, but Easthope retook him straight away.
Glenister won by just under 2s from Sherwen and Blick another second back.
There were 10 drivers competing in 250 National, all using Honda engines on a mixture of long and short circuit style chassis.
Lee Stamp won two heats to Jason Wilson’s one but as Stamp didn’t start the remaining heat he was 9th on the grid for the Final. Aaron Powell was on pole with three 3rd places.
Stamp took 4th at the start then passed Jack Love for 3rd on the next lap and spent the next few reeling Paul Lawson in. Meanwhile Powell had held on to the lead without being able to drop Lawson and Stamp. After passing Lawson, Stamp waited for his opportunity to take the lead which came four laps from the end. He was clearly faster on the straights (using a long circuit kart) and pulled away by 0.8s by the end. Powell was passed by Lawson and Wilson also attacked him on the Yamitsu Straight but stayed 4th.
