Bradley/Alfano: two to count on

April 11, 2009

6861The Maddox Racing Team has found in Bradley and Alfano two drivers never to rule out. At the third round of the WSK, the Brit-French duo was always right up there with the fastest in the queen class, the new Super KF.

The two, powered by Maxter, started the weekend with a good set up for their Maddox chassis. Alfano was the fastest one of the two, just missing out on the SuperPole by less than 3 hundreds of a second. Bradley also qualified well at only 0”054 from his teammate.

In the two heats, Alfano raced steadily with the first 15 drivers, finishing 9th and 15th. Bradley managed even better in Heat 1, grabbing a stunning 6th place. Heat 2 was the opposite, as the Briton ran into a bunch of karts piled up at the corner and was forced to retire with two laps to go.

The two Maddox drivers were to start the final half way down the grid. While Alfano stopped after only two corners as a result of an accident involving five karts, Bradley started a relentless comeback, overtaking his rivals one after the other. After posting the 5th fastest laptime of the final, Richard Bradley takes home a precious 9th position,
and with that scoring 7 valuable championship points.

In KF2, Michelle Gatting is consistently fast as usual. After stopping the 17th fastest laptime in time qualifying, the Danish star grabs a promising 5th and 6th in the heats, while her teammates fail to impress and don’t make the final stages. In the prefinal, Michelle makes up 3 positions ending 13th, and in the final she finishes 10th, adding 6 points to her championship standings.

“We’ve seen some good progress from the first races – said Maddox team manager Marco Grinwis – we know our
material is very good, and it makes us very optimistic for the next events. We could have done a bit better in KF2,
where Michelle looked slightly more competitive during the heats, and in SKF without Alfano crash in the final, but it’s been a decent weekend overall.”
