Cooper wins again at Genk in KF2
2008 Rotax World Champ Ben Cooper’s (GB, Tonykart/Vortex) winning streak continued after the Angerville Qualifier with wins in both the Prefinal and Final at the Genk WSK round. He started 10th in the Prefinal and went on to win, then repeated the achievement in the Final while fellow Tony Kart Jr driver Lock was just off the podium in fourth.
Cooper’s Final win in KF2 came during the wettest part of the day, and he too was almost unchallenged. Jesper Rossler (SE, Birel/Parilla) snatched second from Nicolaj Moller Madsen (DK, Energy/TM), while the Dane’s team mate Mans Grenhagen lost fourth to Chris Lock (GB, Tonykart/Vortex).
Tony Kart Jr team boss Paul Spencer said:
“On the whole, Genk went very, very well. Ben was extremely good, although he did make a mistake in qualifying. But it is a mark of his quality that he knew what he had done wrong and did everything in his power to overcome it and in the racing, he was impeccable. He did his job brilliantly.”
Cooper has now taken the lead of the championship from Matteo Vigano (IT, Birel/Parilla), who had a dreadful weekend.
