KSP_19_3152.jpgThe 20th edition of the “Andrea Margutti Trophy” was run at “Pista 7 Laghi” in Castelletto di Branduzzo (Pavia). This classical International karting race was this year recognized by “FIA Authorised Series” and organized since 1990 in memory of Andrea Margutti, 15-year-old roman driver who tragically died in Parma on the 14th October 1989 during qualifying session of the Industry Karting Trophy.

The winners of this edition which for the first time took place on the 1.210 mt nice track of Castelletto di Branduzzo, with drivers from 28 countries, were the Russian Daniil Kvyat (Tony Kart-Vortex-Dunlop) (photo above) in category KF3, the French Brandon Maisano (Intrepid-Tm-Bridgestone) in KF2 (photo below, the podium) and the British Jack Hawksworth (Energy-Tm-Vega) in KZ2.

During the final of KF3, after 4 rounds in the lead by the Dutch Nyck De Vries (Zanardi-Parilla), it was the Russian Daniil Kvyat (Tony Kart-Vortex) to come ahead for the 16 rounds left and to gain the victory preceding De Vries himself and Raffaele Marciello (Intrepid-Tm), who performed a fantastic progression from the KF2-podio-w15th position. The other expected protagonist, the Spanish Carlos Sainz Junior (FA Kart-Vortex), who started from the first line soon lost ground and finished 7th.

In KF2 the French Brandon Maisano (Intrepid-Tm) was very soon the leader and won with large advantage ahead of the other drivers. Matteo Viganò (Birel-Parilla) started from the fourth position and was classified over six seconds from the winner, while Antonio Maria Giovinazzi (Top Kart-Parilla) won the third place of the podium. The Finnish Aaro Vainio (Maranello-Maxter) wasn’t able to run the final, even if he was protagonist in the qualifying heats, because of an accident with Viganò in semifinal that forced him to withdraw while fighting for the third place.

In KZ2 (photo above, the start of the final) both the French Manuel Renaudie (Gillard-Sgm) and our Alessandro Manetti (AM-Tm) missed the date victory because the French had a bad start from the pole, the Italian for having been stuck in a jam at the beginning of the race. The British Jack Hawksworth (Energy-Tm) finally won this race in a final rush ahead the French Anthony Abbasse (Sodi-Tm). Renaudie could anyway recover up to the third place of the podium although he KZ2-partenza-wwas slipped in 6th position at the beginning of the final. At the end of the race, Manetti, who finished 6th, was disqualified for underweight.
