Rossi’s new team successful from the start

February 23, 2009

Danilo Rossi’s newly born DR Racing made its debut at round 1 of the WSK held at La Conca on 8th February. Despite it being their first international event, they have all the right cards to succeed in this well-known series, the WSK. Besides being backed by brilliant drivers, there were 8 mechanics helped by Luca D’Amico (Technical Manager and telemetry) and Marco Rossi (Sports Manager). Gabriele Marzilli (Assistance and Spare parts), Maurizio Marzilli, Massimo Greco, Simone Patriarca, Arnaud Briffa, Manuel Herrera, Giampiero Masciarelli and Luca Frigerio.

Defending the DR colours, the team headed by Danilo Rossi, we see Luis Miguel Villalba, Sami Luka and Vukan Vusurovic in KF2; Luca Stolz and Kevin Susilo in KF3 and Ricky in Super KF. It’s difficult to break through in the KF queen class from the word go, and Ricky will have to work hard in the first part of the season to be able to match his skill with the more experienced drivers in a class where experience counts most.

Sami Luka was the most competitive in the KF2 class, tenth in timed practice but penalised for an accident in a heat, which ruined his results. The Belgian will be able to make up in the next titled meetings. Stoltz put in a brilliant heat performance in KF3 coming up from 37th to grab ninth. In the final phase he was unable to get the results he deserved due to an engine failure.

“We didn’t win any of the races – says Danilo Rossi – but then again it’s also true that we raced with the leaders throughout, starting from qualifiers, our drivers, Sami Luka, Susilo and Stoltz did very well indeed. We had a few problems too many with our engines, but our chassis were very competitive. It was however a successful first outing for us. With a start like this, we’re bound to do better in the future.”
