Shakedown in Spain for the Rotax Winter Cup
The 2009 season has begun under magnificent sunshine at the first ever Rotax Winter Cup, being held at Karting Campillos just north of Malaga in the south of Spain. Almost 100 drivers have made their way from more than 23 different nations to take part in the Rotax “ice breaker”.
RGMMC Establishment as the organisers and promoters of the Rotax Euro Challenge announced the exciting addition to their already popular European championship and are extremely pleased with the response. “We believe we’ve found the ideal location for the Winter Cup at this time of year,” says manager of RGMMC Roland Geidel, “allowing many competitors and teams to do some testing and racing somewhat earlier in the season than normal.” Not only can they be better prepared for our international series that starts in March, but RGMMC are also offering prizes that could see them having free* entry to the Euro Challenge this year.”
Today sees official timed practice for the Rotax DD2, Junior, Senior and Max Masters classes, with qualifying heats Saturday and finals to follow Sunday, February 15th. The winners will claim the Rotax Winter Cup title and their ticket to race at the Euro Challenge for the four-round series, with second-placed drivers taking home their Euro entry for two rounds of the 2009 championship and those finishing 3rd awarded 1 free round.
