The extremely full programme of heats began on Friday for competitors in the European KF2 and KZ2 Championships. But the programme was interrupted by heavy rain, which at times caused partial flooding of the track. Although some delays arose, all the heats took place as planned.
In KF2, 10 of the 21 heats were contested. The winners were:
Max Verstappen (Intrepid/TM), x 3
Charles Leclerc (ART/Parilla) x 2
Flavio Camponeschi (Tony/Vortex)
Felice Tiene (CRG/BMB)
Niclas Nylund (ART/Parilla)
Robin Hansson (Tony/Vortex)
Karol Basz (Birel/BMB)
The KZ2 drivers raced in 11 heats (also out of a total of 21) and there were no fewer than 10 winners! The only driver to win twice was Kenneth Ostvold (Energy/TM), was forced to retire in his first heat. So the best placed on Friday evening was the Czech driver Jan Midrla (Birel/TM), who confirmed his pole position by leading the pack both in the dry and in the wet.
The other heat winners were:
Ricardo Romkema (Energy/TM)
Flavio Sani (Birel/TM)
Michele Di Martino (Energy/TM)
Jordon Lennox-Lamb CRG/Maxter)
Marco Zanchetta (Energy/TM)
Thierry Delré (Sodi/TM)
Clément Da Silva (Praga/Parilla)
Alessandro Fabiani (CRG/TM)
Even without winning, other Drivers also made their ambitions known, with Kevin Gyr (Tony/Vortex), Adam Janous (Praga/Parilla). Michael Christensen (Energy/Vortex), Denmark, and Marcel Jeleniowski (Tony/Vortex), still in the leading group.
