In KFJ Leonardo Lorandi (Tony/Vortex) has at last overtaken his brother, Alessio, in the heats for the WSK Euro Series at La Conca. More consistent, he finished 1st in the standings in KFJ, with only one win, followed by the Briton Tom Bale (Alonso/Vortex) and then Alessio 3rd.
The Indian Jehan Daruvala (Alonso/Vortex) confirmed his growing potential with his 4th place ahead of the Russian Nikita Sitnikov (Tony/BMB). The highest score would have gone to the British driver Lando Norris (Alonso/Vortex) with three wins, if he hadn’t been penalized 10s during his first heat for a questionable manoeuvre.
There will be two Prefinals tomorrow in which all the drivers will compete, and the top 17 in each will get through to the Final.
Two heats remain on Sunday morning for groups A, B, C and D, but a hierarchy has emerged already in KF at La Conca. With two wins, George Russell (Birel/TM) is in the first place in front of Callum Ilott (Zanardi/Parilla) who has been consistent, but hasn’t won. In 3rd and 4th, Karol Basz (Tony/Vortex) and Nicklas Nielsen (Kosmic/Vortex) have each won a race, but Dorian Boccolacci (Energy/TM), also once victorious, is 7th with all his heats complete. It is the same for Armand Convers (Kosmic/Vortex), currently 10th: the two drivers can only progress at the end of the heats. Without his retirement, Ben Barnicoat (ART/TM) would be at the front too, while Martin Kodric (Alonso/Vortex) suffered two bad performances.
