Kartlink covers international kart racing and is the only British website to regularly be in the paddock at most of the World and European meetings.
Following an encouraging start to his WSK International Series challenge at Angerville, Jack Hawksworth returned to the French track in search of a similarly strong performance in the opening meeting on the 2008 European Championship calendar – and he duly delivered.
Even for a driver who is five-time World Champion, each new karting race can be considered a new beginning. Davide Fore experienced it himself at Angerville, at the first meeting of the European KF1 Championship, on 3 and 4 May. On the circuit where the Italian pilot conquered his latest world title, he hoped to win another top-level race. Unfortunately, the race proved to be much more difficult than he thought.
The partnership between Energy and Fly Kart Team directed by Alberto Tonti continues to provide excellent results, along the same lines as the performances shown at the WSK debut. Led by excellent Kevin Jansen, Kevin Leijtens and Kenneth Ostvold, the Fly Kart Team dominated the top 10, from timed practice to the final. The European Championship has certainly started under favourable auspices for the Italian team.
At Angerville, Energy’s blue, red and white colours were everywhere throughout the weekend. After conquering the pole position, Tony Lavanant never left the first row, until Sunday afternoon. The French pilot drove an almost spotless race, winning four out of five heats and setting four record laps.
An all-smiling Jonathan Thonon was on the podium twice at Angerville, where the first round of the European KZ1 Championship (the top category for 125cc gearbox karts) was held. For the Belgian pilot and CRG-Maxter Team, which he officially represents, it was important to start this new season with a victory and a good overall result.
The title of European Champion remains, now more than ever, the objective of Intrepid Team, especially in KZ1, a category in which Intrepid pilots have always been among the leaders: Roberto Toninelli conquered the podium of this European debut in France and Norman Nato can be legitimately considered the revelation of the May Day weekend, while Manuel Cozzaglio scored important points in the two races. Performances were up to expectations in ...
Always in the leading group, the two KZ1 pilots from Equipe de France FFSA Karting, Thomas Mich and Norman Nato put in their best performances throughout the weekend at Angerville at the start of 2008 European Championship. The race turned out to be harder in KF1 for Alban Varutti and Anthony Abbasse, who anyway took advantage of this opportunity to make substantial technical progress; this experience will allow them to perform ...
