At the wheel of his Maranello-Maxter, Davide Fore was one of the best drivers during the last round of the European KF1 Championship. The Italian driver took pole position, became the leader at the end of the heats and was second twice in the finals, thereby proving once again that his team is able to fight for the most prestigious titles.
Under the glorious Portuguese sunshine, this weekend the Braga circuit hosts the third and final round of the European KF1 championship as well as the final of the KF2 championship. As soon as the qualifying practice sessions commenced, the tension and suspense began in both classes.
Unrivaled domination of James Thorp in KF2, podium for Davide Fore (KZ2) and Zdenek Groman (KF2), brilliant performances of Kevin Ceccon and Aaro Vainio in KF3… the Maranello team has perfectly managed the 5th race of the 2008 WSK which was at Sarno, at the foothills of Vesuvius.
Maranello shows no intention of leaving the head of the timesheets! After a pole position in KF1, Davide Forè proved to be the fastest in the very much coveted timed qualifying and then showed an excellent performance in the final phase. The Maranello chassis was just as fast in KZ1, as demonstrated by Alessandro Piccini's constant presence in the top 5 of the category.
After a day of Free Practice in yesterday’s sunshine, the competitors discovered new track conditions today. A sudden downpour shortly before the start of qualifying practice in categories KF1 and KZ1 changed everything. Consequently, it was on a wet track that the drivers set out for their battle against the stop watch.
Maranello was back again on a WSK podium. At Mariembourg, the RS7 chassis proved to be very effective both in KZ2, with Alessandro Piccini's second place, and in KF categories, thanks to Davide Forè's presence in the top 3 during most of the KF1 race.
A 100% red podium closed the KF1 World Cup weekend at Suzuka. Davide Fore (Maranello) won the final ahead of the young Czech driver Libor Toman (Birel) and his team-mate Sauro Cesetti.
Exactly a month ago, at the International Open Masters, the Maranello chassis obtained excellent performances on the Italian circuit of Lonato, during the third WSK round. A long series of pole positions, victories in the heats and best laps in all three categories - KF1, KF2 and KF3. Unfortunately several race mishaps too often prevented Maranello pilots from obtaining better results.
