Kartlink covers international kart racing and is the only British website to regularly be in the paddock at most of the World and European meetings.
Braga’s Kartodromo has not brought a lot of luck to the French pilots in the past. The Portuguese circuit, which has hosted many international competitions, complicated once again the task of the French pilots. There are several explanations for this, the main being that today’s karting competitions require the maximum participation to international races, in order to find the right set-up and fine-tune the driving technique in often agitated races.
At the wheel of his Maranello-Maxter, Davide Fore was one of the best drivers during the last round of the European KF1 Championship. The Italian driver took pole position, became the leader at the end of the heats and was second twice in the finals, thereby proving once again that his team is able to fight for the most prestigious titles.
Marco Ardigo (IT, Tonykart/Vortex) has won the European Championship again after both his rivals, Arnaud Kozlinski (FR, CRG/Maxter) and Gary Catt (GB, Tonykart/Vortex) had problems in Race 2. In KF2 Flavio Camponeschi's (IT, Tonykart/Vortex) European KF2 Championship made it a perfect day for the Italian manufacturer.
Under the glorious Portuguese sunshine, this weekend the Braga circuit hosts the third and final round of the European KF1 championship as well as the final of the KF2 championship. As soon as the qualifying practice sessions commenced, the tension and suspense began in both classes.
The third and last round of the CIK-FIA European KF1 Championship will be held on the Portuguese circuit of Braga on 1-3 August 2008. As well as being decisive for the CIK-FIA European KF1 Champion title, the event will also constitute the final rehearsal in real conditions before the World Championship, to be organised at Muro Leccese in Italy on 21 September.
Today the CIK issued this memo regarding the scrutineering checks to be carried out at the European Championships this weekend.
Maranello shows no intention of leaving the head of the timesheets! After a pole position in KF1, Davide Forè proved to be the fastest in the very much coveted timed qualifying and then showed an excellent performance in the final phase. The Maranello chassis was just as fast in KZ1, as demonstrated by Alessandro Piccini's constant presence in the top 5 of the category.
The Intrepid brand was in spotlight at the second round of the European KF1 Championship. In his homeland, at Mariembourg, Belgian Yannick De Brabander really made an exploit by conquering two podiums. A performance even more impressive for Intrepid and EGP Team given that it is De Brabander's first season in the top category.
The second round of the European Kart Championship at Mariembourg in Belgium looked as though it could be difficult for Jason Parrott, who may easily have struggled after a clutch upgrade used by much of the field was not quite advanced enough to use.
Jonathan Thonon (CRG/Maxter) largely dominated the second and final round of the KZ1 European Championship, which was held this weekend in Mariembourg, Belgium, to win the European crown. In KF1 Marco Ardigo (Tony Kart/Vortex) is back on course for the title which will be decided at the final in Portugal following his two race wins whilst Joffrey Demanse had a fine showing in KZ2.
