The Intrepid brand was in spotlight at the second round of the European KF1 Championship. In his homeland, at Mariembourg, Belgian Yannick De Brabander really made an exploit by conquering two podiums. A performance even more impressive for Intrepid and EGP Team given that it is De Brabander's first season in the top category.
In his homeland, in Belgium, on the Mariembourg circuit, Jonathan Thonon conquered a title that means a lot to him: that of European KZ1 Champion. At the wheel of his CRG-Maxter, the Belgian pilot showed all his talent and dominated the race from the beginning to the very end, proving once again to be the fastest, just like in all the competitions he entered into.
The second round of the European Kart Championship at Mariembourg in Belgium looked as though it could be difficult for Jason Parrott, who may easily have struggled after a clutch upgrade used by much of the field was not quite advanced enough to use.
With its many qualifying races which determine the 34 qualifiers for Sunday’s starting grid, the Saturday is traditionally a testing and competitive time in the European Championship. Jonathon Thonon dominated KZ1 but the competition has been fierce in KF1 and KZ2.
After a day of Free Practice in yesterday’s sunshine, the competitors discovered new track conditions today. A sudden downpour shortly before the start of qualifying practice in categories KF1 and KZ1 changed everything. Consequently, it was on a wet track that the drivers set out for their battle against the stop watch.
