Russell Danzey was spot-on when he apologised to his dad for leaving his Father’s Day card back home in Sheffield, and vowed to win the third round of the British Super 1 Championship at Rowrah in Cumbria yesterday (15 June) to make amends.

The main protagonists hadn't quite got into their stride for timed qualifying with John Norris a fraction ahead of Alex Lynn with Sam Jenkins in third spot. Lynn's heat exclusion put him into the repechage, where he came third to Max Robinson and Ashley Sutton.
